Laparoscopic Spay/Neuter and Gastropexy
A minimally invasive approach to spays and cryptorchid (retained testicle) neuters, performed through small incisions with a camera. Compared with a traditional open spay, laparoscopic surgery is generally associated with smaller incisions and less post-operative discomfort. For large and giant breeds prone to gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat), a laparoscopic-assisted gastropexy can be performed at the same time.
Orthopedic Surgery
Beyond cruciate ligament repair (TPLO, TTA, lateral suture), Dr. Pedraza is especially skilled in orthopedic procedures including fracture repair (plates, pins and external fixation), femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO), medial and lateral patellar luxation correction, and selected spinal procedures. Each case is assessed individually at a free surgical consultation.
Complex Soft Tissue Surgery
Complex soft tissue procedures are performed with a dedicated anesthesia and pain-management protocol and structured post-operative care. Examples include splenectomy, removal of large or infiltrative masses, mammary mass removal, and perineal urethrostomy. Where appropriate, we combine these with endoscopic or laparoscopic techniques to reduce incision size.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy uses a flexible or rigid camera to examine and treat areas that would otherwise require open surgery. It is performed under general anesthesia and typically involves no incision or only a very small one. We use it to retrieve swallowed foreign bodies from the esophagus and stomach, take biopsies of the gastrointestinal tract, and evaluate chronic problems.
